Privacy Policy

Our questionnaire asks about your household and your health priorities, because that is the only way to tell you which plans actually fit. This page explains exactly what we collect, who sees it, where it is stored, and how to get it back or have it deleted.
It applies to www.easyplans.ca and to the questionnaire and contact form on it.
1.Who we are
EasyPlans is operated by Parish Insurance & Financial Services Inc., carrying on business as IB Insurance Solutions Inc., an independent insurance brokerage licensed in Alberta and British Columbia. Our office is at 435, 450 Ordze Road, Sherwood Park, AB T8B 0C5.
We are responsible for the personal information under our control, including information we pass to the service providers listed in section 5. Randy Parish is our Privacy Officer and is accountable for our compliance with this policy.
2.What we collect
We only collect what the questionnaire and the contact form actually ask for. Nothing is gathered in the background.
From the questionnaire:
- Your name, email address and phone number.
- Your date of birth, gender and province of residence.
- Whether you have provincial health coverage, your current coverage status, and the date your last coverage ended.
- Who the plan is for, and for a spouse or dependants, their date of birth, relationship to you and gender.
- The monthly budget range you are working with.
- Health-related information: which kinds of coverage matter most to you and how much — prescription drugs, dental, vision, practitioners such as physiotherapy, massage, chiropractic and psychology, medical equipment, and catastrophic coverage — along with the specific benefits you ask us to prioritise. You may also tell us you would like to hear about life insurance.
From the contact form: your name, email address, and the subject and text of your message.
Technical information: your IP address is used briefly to limit how many submissions can come from one source, and is not stored against your submission. The site sets a single cookie, described in section 7.
We do not run website analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party tracking scripts, and no third-party cookies are set. Fonts and images are served from our own servers, so loading a page does not report your visit to anyone else.
3.Why we collect it, and your consent
We use the information you give us to:
- Work out which plans you are eligible for.
- Compare the plans we carry and produce a shortlist matched to your priorities.
- Email you a copy of your results.
- Let a licensed broker contact you about those results, answer questions, and help you apply if you choose to.
- Obtain quotes from insurers on your behalf and submit an application when you ask us to.
- Keep the records our insurance licensing obligations require us to keep.
You give consent by checking the disclosure box before the questionnaire begins. You can withdraw it at any time by contacting us (section 11), subject to any records we are legally required to retain. If you withdraw consent we can no longer provide brokerage services to you.
If you give us information about a spouse or a dependant, you are confirming you are authorised to share it on their behalf.
4.How the comparison works
Your answers are scored automatically. The comparison first removes plans you are not eligible for, then ranks the rest against the priorities you set, and shows you the closest matches.
That ranking is a shortlist, not a decision about you. Nothing on this site approves or declines you for insurance, sets your premium, or reports anything to a credit bureau or insurer without your involvement. A licensed broker reviews every submission, and eligibility and pricing are confirmed by the insurer when you apply.
6.Storage outside Canada
The service providers listed above store and process information on servers located in the United States. This means your information is subject to the laws of that country, and may be accessible to United States courts, law enforcement and national security authorities under those laws.
If you would rather not have your information handled this way, contact us and we will take your details over the phone or in person instead.
8.How long we keep it
We keep questionnaire submissions and contact-form messages for as long as we need them for the purposes in section 3, and for as long as our record-keeping obligations as a licensed brokerage require. In practice that means a submission stays on file after you contact us, so we can pick up where we left off and so we have a record of the advice we gave.
We do not currently run an automatic deletion schedule. We would rather tell you that than publish a timetable we don't keep to. Reviewing retention and setting a defined period is on our list of improvements.
You can ask us to delete your information at any time and we will do so, except where we are required to retain a record — in which case we will tell you what we are keeping and why. Section 11 has the contact details.
9.How we protect it
Everything you send travels over an encrypted connection. Submissions are held in an access-controlled database, and only staff who need it to do their job can see them. Access is through individual accounts, not shared logins, and is removed when someone leaves.
No system is perfect. If a breach ever creates a real risk of significant harm to you, we will notify you and the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner as the law requires.
10.Your rights
You can ask us to:
- Tell you what personal information we hold about you and how we have used it.
- Correct anything that is wrong or out of date.
- Delete your information, subject to section 8.
- Stop contacting you, or withdraw your consent entirely.
Write to the Privacy Officer using the details in section 11. We will respond within 45 days. There is no charge for a routine request.
If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner of Alberta. British Columbia residents may complain to the Office of the Information and Privacy Commissioner for British Columbia.
